So, you probably have heard by now that the “Home Alone” house is going up for sale.
This has sparked a lot of curiosity, including an intriguing question I received on Instagram. Someone asked me whether the house is haunted and if I could sense anything paranormal about it.

Which I understand the curiosity. Before addressing this, I want to mention that I have previously made a whole video on the ethics of psychic mediumship and discussing the deceased. The person mentioned seeing the spirit of actor John Heard, who played Peter McCallister in “Home Alone” and “Home Alone 2,” and who sadly passed away in 2017. Out of respect for his family, I won’t delve too deeply into this specific case.
However, I will say this: many movies have faced allegations of being haunted. For example, the “Poltergeist” series is famously associated with numerous eerie incidents, and “The Conjuring” universe films often had priests bless the sets due to reported paranormal activities . These stories highlight how locations tied to emotionally intense events can sometimes be linked with residual spiritual energy.
“The Home Alone” house is undoubtedly one of the most iconic homes in film history, attracting many visitors, especially during the holidays, due to the nostalgia and sense of community it evokes. The house was sold to new owners in 2012, who have reportedly have not been the most excited for the many visitors that this house attracts. This change in attitude has been mentioned in some YouTube videos and fan discussions.
Despite its fame, many people might not know that the interior scenes of “Home Alone” were not actually filmed inside the house. According to the netflix show Movies That Made Us, a detailed set replicating the house’s interior was constructed in a local high school. This allowed for more controlled filming conditions.
While there are really no reports of the “Home Alone” house being haunted, it’s not unusual for iconic film locations to be associated with paranormal claims. I wont jump into the deep end for this one. But I do hope the new owners are more than happy to discuss what they think of the home and embrace the history.
Side note, I did see that in 2021 this house was up for Airbnb and I would imagine someone mentioning something then perhaps? But also I air on the side that like you need to stay somewhere for a bit to feel if it is haunted.
Anyway what are your thoughts? Have you ever visited this home or would like to visit?
